Have you caught up on the sporting news?

I realized today that I haven’t put out any updates in about a month and with Hurricane Ian and such having impacted schedules and lives, I wanted to circle back and capture the updates regarding the SEU Fire Women’s Soccer team. I will use two sources for this post: Women’s Soccer – Southeastern University Athletics (seu.edu) page, the 2022 NAIA Women’s Soccer Ratings Calendar – NAIA page, and the Snoqualmie Valley Sports Journal – Bringing you the best coverage of Snoqualmie Valley sports (wordpress.com).

A dominant offensive effort helped the Fire outshoot the 24th-ranked Tigers 8-2 and come away with a 4-1 victory to improve to 5-1-1 on the year. The Fire held a 1-0 lead at halftime thanks to Mashell Rodriguez's second goal in as many games coming in the 39th minute of play, finishing a pass from Katie Carnes. Karissa King made it 2-0 in the 59th minute of play, scoring on a pass from Ramsey Watkins, who also assisted on Mason Schilling's goal in the 84th minute to make it 3-0. Just 73 seconds later, Campbellsville got on the board but the Fire answered in the 87th minute on Madelyn Davidson's first goal of the season. The Fire will host Georgia Gwinnett on Thursday at 7 p.m. for their final non-conference contest of the season.

A special accomplishment for the “Mad Dog,” plus the rest of the soccer and volleyball…..To soccer on this Sunday and we start with a special moment on the pitch in Campbellsville, KY, yesterday for the lower Valley’s “Mad Dog.” Cedarcrest HS alum Madelyn Davidson scored her first collegiate goal yesterday, for the Southeastern University of Florida women’s soccer squad. Davidson, a freshman this fall with Southeastern, intercepted an errant Campbellsville pass in the 87th minute and proceeded to roll back towards the Tiger goal untouched, firing a mid-range shot which went past the Campbellsville keeper and into the goal. The tally capped off a fantastic 4-1 win for the Fire which moved them to 5-1-1 on the season.Davidson, from Carnation, only played the final five minutes of the game, but as her dad noted to us, she made those minutes count. She ended up with a total of two shots, both on goal, with the one goal scored, as Southeastern finished off a weekend road swing into Bluegrass Country with the big road win.The Fire are off for the next week and a half but are back home next Thursday,

Colleges: “Mad Dog” makes her minutes count in Southeastern U. women’s winThe Southeastern University women’s soccer team in Florida recorded their first win of the Sun Conference (NAIA) schedule last night, and did so in very dominating fashion with the help of a Valleyite.Carnation’s Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson scored a goal for the Fire as they turned on the heat in a big way. How about 14-0 big? Yup, that is not a misprint, but was the actual score as Southeastern blasted winless Florida Memorial in the conference contest, which took place down in Fort Lauderdale in the southern part of the state last night.Davidson, a freshman, scored the goal in the 33rd minute and was assisted by teammate Ariadna Lozadno, who finished with two assists in the contest. Davidson came off the bench and logged just 16 minutes of action for SEU, but the Cedarcrest HS grad made the most of the limited work, recording four shots, two on goal including the goal she scored, which was the second of her college career. She scored her first college goal in a game back on September 17 against Campbellsville of Kentucky in a 4-1 Fire win. They will be back home tomorrow in Lakeland, FL, hosting St. Thomas.

Soccer: Mad Dog’s two helpers aid Southeastern (FL) ladies to come-from-behind winCarnation’s Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson assisted on both of Southeastern University’s goals, as their women’s squad rallied from an early 1-0 hole to best St. Thomas of Florida last night 2-1 on home turf down in Lakeland, FL.The freshman, a Cedarcrest HS grad from this past June, aided goals by teammates Ariadna Lozano in the 40th minute which tied the game going into halftime, and Hanna Ryberg in the 78th minute for the game-winner. The win moves Southeastern to 8-1-1 on the season. They are back in action on Wednesday.

First Goal at the College Soccer level!

This past week SEU Fire Women’s soccer played 2 games in Kentucky with a loss and a win. Game 1 ended with a 3-1 loss in Williamsburg, KY to the University of the Cumberlands Patriots.

Game 2 ended with a 4-1 victory in Campbellsville, KY over the Campbellsville University Tigers.

The excitement was fun to watch as Madelyn entered the game after Campbellsville got their first goal bringing the game to within 2 goals with about 5 minutes left in the game and had 1 shot on goal, and 1 goalllllll!!!

Double the excitement! A home game and #2 ranked opponent.

What an exciting game to watch as the girls never quit and kept pressing throughout the game with a strong finish giving the SEU Fire their first lead of the game and a victory of 5-2 against a strong William Carey team.

Both teams came into the game with a 2-0 record. William Carey with an impressive 10-1 goal differential from the first game and SEU Fire with a 6-1 goal differential in their first games. A fun stat that was shared in the game was how only 4 shots on goal were allowed during the first two games against William Carey.

In today’s game, Madelyn didn’t get the start, however, she did get 28 mins of game time with a bunch of great passing plans and a few missed goals including a header attempt. The excitement of the team when Omea scored the fifth, final, and winning goal was so incredible to watch. Go Fire! Even the fans were chest-bumping and cheering the team on.

For the rundown of the game, check out SEU Fire Women’s Soccer page – Women’s Soccer Rallies for Wild Upset of No. 2 William Carey – Southeastern University Athletics (seu.edu)

Great all-around play by SEU, especially with the knowledge of how William Carey had managed their first two games as the No 2 ranked team in the nation in NAIA.

Game 2 is in the books! SEU victory 4-1

Another game up in Illinois, this one against TRINITY CHRISTIAN TROLLS in Palos Heights, IL. The game ended the first half with a score of 2-0 lead for the SEU Fire and the game ended 4-1 victory for the SEU Fire. The goals breakout came as follows:

SEU 4 – TROLLS 1

The SEU starting lineup for today’s game was:

Was challenged with some technology/video issues but still wanted to share the news of another SEU victory.

Madelyn was substituted at 19:40 of the first half and then returned to the game with about 3 mins to go.

It’s a win! Game 1 is in the books!

Well, yesterday was the beginning of Madelyn’s collegiate soccer career as #8 on the road, with the team, and getting to start as the striker. It was exciting to get to hear the announcer introduce her before the game, and the play-by-play announcer speaks to where she is from after her first session out on the field. I am so excited and proud of her decision and dedication and obedience to God’s prompting to reach out to SEU for school and to answer the prompting of the Spirit into why she may not have heard from the coach and discover she had originally used the wrong email alias and the rest is history. It was great to even see God answer my prayer of getting to meet the coach before we left her at the dorms back at the beginning of the month before practices started when the coach just happened to pull in with his golf cart just as we pulled into our parking spot. God is so good!

SEU won their game opener 2-0 with both goals being scored by Senior Naira Lopez.

Checking the stats for Madelyn from the SEU Fire site, we get:

It was exciting to get to see yesteday’s post on the SnoValleySportsJournal before knowing that she would be a starter in the game with the following post:

Could “Mad Dog” make her college debut?Today could be a special day for freshman Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson, and hopefully the end of what for her has been a challenging road the past several months to get to this point. The Cedarcrest grad – she graduated back in June – from Carnation had initially signed with the University of Idaho, an NCAA Division I school. But circumstances changed soon after she signed, and she decided to look elsewhere, and found a very welcoming home at NAIA Southeastern University of Florida. That team is opening its season with a road game today in Illinois against Olivet Nazarene University. Davidson is with the team and traveling so there is a possiblity she could play in today’s game and make that debut. The game is at 3:00 this afternoon our time, and you can watch this game live via the NAIA streaming app, which is available on Roku and we think AmazonFire and AppleTV as well, but check their app stores for more information. We wish “Mad Dog” and her teammates good luck in this one.
Talking soccer on a Wednesday…. – Snoqualmie Valley Sports Journal (wordpress.com)

This morning at 7am Rhett had a new post in the SnoValleySportsJournal with post game updates:

Soccer: “Mad Dog” starts in college debutIt was quite a journey, but she finally reached her final destination last night. Carnation’s Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson made her college soccer debut, and making it even better, the freshman, a Cedarcrest HS grad from this past June, got the start for NAIA Southeastern University of Florida’s women’s soccer squad in their season opener with Olivet Nazarene University. Davidson logged 38 minutes in the debut appearance, recording one shot on goal but no goals scored, as Southeastern opened the season the right way with a 2-0 shutout of the host ONU ladies at their field in Bourbonnais, IL, on the far southern outskirts of Chicago.Senior teammate Naira Lopez, from Spain, scored both of the Southeastern goals as the Fire got things started out well on this 2022 fall campaign. Southeastern finishes up their season-opening road swing on Saturday taking on Trinity Christian College also near Chicago, then opens their home schedule with a game against William Carey University, among the top teams in the nation, next weekend. As we mentioned yesterday, Davidson landed on the Southeastern squad this fall after having initially signed with NCAA Division I University of Idaho. However, circumstances changed soon after she signed and she chose to look elsewhere and found a great fit with this very solid small-college team, which went 15-4 last fall and made the NAIA’s national playoffs, falling in the first round.Good stuff for sure and we hope “Mad Dog” is doing well this morning feeling good about her accomplishments yesterday.
Mount Si alum – and college champion – tosses first pitch at M’s game, plus news from the pitch….. – Snoqualmie Valley Sports Journal (wordpress.com)

Well, the first game in the books, and excited to get to see all God has in store for her the rest of the season.

Have you heard about the exciting 2hr awards night? Senior Awards Night!

Last night was the Cedarcrest High School Senior Awards 2022. It was an incredible time to get to see the kids get $57K across 55 graduates along with awards from the various departments in the school and athletic awards too. Madelyn received 7 last night and learned they missed her for 1 more at school.

Here are some of them so that we can celebrate together!
