A special accomplishment for the “Mad Dog,” plus the rest of the soccer and volleyball…..
To soccer on this Sunday and we start with a special moment on the pitch in Campbellsville, KY, yesterday for the lower Valley’s “Mad Dog.” Cedarcrest HS alum Madelyn Davidson scored her first collegiate goal yesterday, for the Southeastern University of Florida women’s soccer squad. Davidson, a freshman this fall with Southeastern, intercepted an errant Campbellsville pass in the 87th minute and proceeded to roll back towards the Tiger goal untouched, firing a mid-range shot which went past the Campbellsville keeper and into the goal. The tally capped off a fantastic 4-1 win for the Fire which moved them to 5-1-1 on the season.

Davidson, from Carnation, only played the final five minutes of the game, but as her dad noted to us, she made those minutes count. She ended up with a total of two shots, both on goal, with the one goal scored, as Southeastern finished off a weekend road swing into Bluegrass Country with the big road win.

The Fire are back home Thursday meeting Georgia Gwinnett College in Lakeland FL.
Write-up from local sports reporting on Madelyn’s first goal.
