It’s a win! Game 1 is in the books!

Well, yesterday was the beginning of Madelyn’s collegiate soccer career as #8 on the road, with the team, and getting to start as the striker. It was exciting to get to hear the announcer introduce her before the game, and the play-by-play announcer speaks to where she is from after her first session out on the field. I am so excited and proud of her decision and dedication and obedience to God’s prompting to reach out to SEU for school and to answer the prompting of the Spirit into why she may not have heard from the coach and discover she had originally used the wrong email alias and the rest is history. It was great to even see God answer my prayer of getting to meet the coach before we left her at the dorms back at the beginning of the month before practices started when the coach just happened to pull in with his golf cart just as we pulled into our parking spot. God is so good!

SEU won their game opener 2-0 with both goals being scored by Senior Naira Lopez.

Checking the stats for Madelyn from the SEU Fire site, we get:

It was exciting to get to see yesteday’s post on the SnoValleySportsJournal before knowing that she would be a starter in the game with the following post:

Could “Mad Dog” make her college debut?
Today could be a special day for freshman Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson, and hopefully the end of what for her has been a challenging road the past several months to get to this point. The Cedarcrest grad – she graduated back in June – from Carnation had initially signed with the University of Idaho, an NCAA Division I school. But circumstances changed soon after she signed, and she decided to look elsewhere, and found a very welcoming home at NAIA Southeastern University of Florida. That team is opening its season with a road game today in Illinois against Olivet Nazarene University. Davidson is with the team and traveling so there is a possiblity she could play in today’s game and make that debut.

The game is at 3:00 this afternoon our time, and you can watch this game live via the NAIA streaming app, which is available on Roku and we think AmazonFire and AppleTV as well, but check their app stores for more information.

We wish “Mad Dog” and her teammates good luck in this one.

This morning at 7am Rhett had a new post in the SnoValleySportsJournal with post game updates:

Soccer: “Mad Dog” starts in college debut
It was quite a journey, but she finally reached her final destination last night. Carnation’s Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson made her college soccer debut, and making it even better, the freshman, a Cedarcrest HS grad from this past June, got the start for NAIA Southeastern University of Florida’s women’s soccer squad in their season opener with Olivet Nazarene University. Davidson logged 38 minutes in the debut appearance, recording one shot on goal but no goals scored, as Southeastern opened the season the right way with a 2-0 shutout of the host ONU ladies at their field in Bourbonnais, IL, on the far southern outskirts of Chicago.

Senior teammate Naira Lopez, from Spain, scored both of the Southeastern goals as the Fire got things started out well on this 2022 fall campaign. Southeastern finishes up their season-opening road swing on Saturday taking on Trinity Christian College also near Chicago, then opens their home schedule with a game against William Carey University, among the top teams in the nation, next weekend.

As we mentioned yesterday, Davidson landed on the Southeastern squad this fall after having initially signed with NCAA Division I University of Idaho. However, circumstances changed soon after she signed and she chose to look elsewhere and found a great fit with this very solid small-college team, which went 15-4 last fall and made the NAIA’s national playoffs, falling in the first round.

Good stuff for sure and we hope “Mad Dog” is doing well this morning feeling good about her accomplishments yesterday.
