How big can a senior year be for any one person? How big can one week be any one person? Remember that post a little while back about the first week of senior year? Imagine the first week of High School as a Senior

Well, let’s walk through this week to see what we can cover:

She happened to also have a game that day where the spirit theme selected happened to be Idaho Vandals (Black and Gold) she scored a hat trick which was then covered by our local SnoValley Sports Journal with the following:

Senior Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson pocketed a “hat trick” – three goals – as Cedarcrest took care of visiting Marysville-Pilchuck 4-1 on “University of Idaho Vandals” night, in recognition of Davidson’s verbal commitment to play soccer for that NCAA Division I school, something which we are working to get some more information on for you now. Idaho is no stranger to Valley fans, as Mount Si HS alum Claire Johnson was a four-year starter on defense for the Vandals several years ago following her graduation from the Wildcat high school program.

Davidson didn’t wait long to get on the scoresheet – she only needed four minutes to get things rolling, taking a feed from teammate Melanie Cammarano and finishing it off to open the scoring. CHS then scored again in the 20th minute, with Leah Cammarano firing a corner kick which was received by Elisa Piira, who then promptly did the rest, cleaning up the ball in front of the net and pounding it home to make it 2-0. According to coach Alex Hickox, the instructions to his team were simple. “(W)e explained that we really needed to get the third goal and put this game to bed,” the coach told us by email. Well, Davidson was more than happy to oblige. Nine minutes into the second half, she got a throw-in from teammate Anna Linder, and the “Mad Dog” did the rest.

Hickox was impressed. “It was about as fine as a goal you will get from the senior,” he told us. “It’s (Davidson’s) awareness that separates her from the rest of the crowd. She checked her shoulder and knew exactly what she needed to do to free up some space for herself and since the defense didn’t step to her, she was able to check where the keeper was and chip her far post.” You know, if Idaho sees this clip, expect their coaches to be dropping out of their chairs fired up. That’s how big of an impact she potentially could be for that Vandal program. Davidson finished off the “trick” in the 74th minute, helping to clean up the ball in front of the net after Lila Wilkins had fired a shot that had been stopped by the M-P goalie. Wilkins’ shot was rebounded by Leah Cammarano, who then got the ball back into goal-scoring territory, where she found a waiting Davidson, who put the icing on the cake on her special night.

Wow, a great Tuesday night game in the books with a lot of excitement and fireworks. It was even streamed by the National Federation of High Schools:

But wait the week doesn’t end there as she still had one more away game on Thursday along with finding out that she was in the top 6 finalists for Homecoming Queen.

Soccer: Mount Si, Cedarcrest girls get big road wins – and Wildcats’ earns them a trip to playoffs for the first time in six seasons

Cedarcrest’s Melanie Cammarano scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 80th minute and the Red Wolves escaped with a 2-1 victory over the Bearcats at Monroe High School that pushed CHS into third place overall in the Wesco standings and was also their 10th win of the season. I’m really proud of our accomplishment and against a good team and on the road. “We just keep finding ways to win and support each other and it’s just so fun to be a part of this team,” Cedarcrest coach Alex Hickox tells us by email. Madelyn Davidson also scored a goal for the Red Wolves in this one. Monroe opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 15th minute and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Davidson tied it in the 55th off a feed from Sadie Schaefer, then Cammarano got the feed from Schaefer with moments to spare and was able to open up enough of a lane to fire the ball towards goal and it sailed past a backup Monroe goalie (the starting goalie had to leave midway through the second half after getting injured in a collision with Schaefer) to give the Red Wolves the lead. Stoppage time ensued and CHS held on. “This was a really fun game if you like high-intensity and high-tension. I think the fans were treated with a really great back and forth battle all night,” Hickox told us.

A great week of soccer for the RedWolves and a lot of fun had by Madelyn.

Friday was an interesting day as it didn’t involve her playing sports but it did require attending the Homecoming Varsity football game. After school, there was an assembly to announce the top 3 for each of the Homecoming royal court positions. During the Friday Night game, the King and Queen were crowned and Madely was crowned Homecoming Queen.
