So for her mom’s birthday, we did a family trip to go and watch her play in two games.

Soccer Tennessee Southern 3, Southeastern (FL) women 1: The Fire had a bit of a late start to the season, and perhaps that showed up last night against a TSU squad that was already into midseason form, with this having been already their sixth game of the season. The game, on neutral soil outside of Mobile, AL, saw sophomore Madelyn Davidson make her 2023 regular season debut as a starter for Southeastern. Carnation’s “Mad Dog,” a Cedarcrest HS grad from June of last year, worked the full 90 minutes up front with three shots recorded, one on goal with no goals scored. We’ve been told she saw quality action during the preseason, and also pocketed a goal, so if that translates into the regular season, Valley fans could be seeing something special take place as things roll along this fall.

William Carey 5, Southeastern (FL) women 1: A first-half goal by Carnation’s Madelyn “Mad Dog” Davidson proved not to be enough for the Fire as they finished out their season-opening trip to Alabama with a loss to the unbeaten Mississippi-based squad. The goal was Davidson’s first officially on the season, although we have mentioned she did score a goal in the preseason for Southeastern. Davidson is a sophomore and 2022 Cedarcrest HS grad.
