GA Work: New Outputs on site, video, and social media

Work this week…

It’s fun to get to see her doing GA work. This week was especially fun because it wasn’t just another post after a game. She also got to be part of the post-game interviews and create her first social media graphic for SEU Fire volleyball.

Another Post for SEU Fire:

One of the highlights this week was helping cover another SEU Fire volleyball match. After the match, she put together a game recap for Southeastern University Athletics, highlighting the result, team statistics, and individual performances.

It has been fun to watch her learn how all of the different pieces of athletic communications come together. A game is more than what happens on the court. There is the preparation before the match, live coverage during the game, the story and statistics afterward, and then the social media and video content that helps fans continue to follow the team.

Another exciting first was getting to participate in her first post-game press conference for SEU Fire volleyball. She helped with the interview coverage featuring Coach Amanda Phelps, Mallori Grey, and Jillian Zoerman.

Being part of a post-game interview is a different experience from writing a game recap. It requires listening carefully, understanding what happened during the match, and helping capture the thoughts and reactions of the coaches and players while the game is still fresh.

First Social Media Graphic
on Instagram:

She also created her first social media graphic for SEU Fire volleyball. The Match Day graphic was another opportunity to combine the storytelling side of sports communications with the visual side of social media.

It is exciting to see these opportunities becoming part of her graduate assistant experience. Each assignment gives her another chance to learn, create, and gain real-world experience in athletic communications. Watching her take on new responsibilities and see her work published, shared, and used by the program makes this a pretty fun season to follow.
